The Lap Top Monitor goes from 1024 x 768 to 2048 x 1536. Does this magnify the viewing window?

This is best described as....try it and see what it looks like. LOL

What this does is determine how many dots you see on your screen. Like resolution on a digital camera. The problem is when you increase your resolution you actually shrink the pictures and fonts to gain the larger display area. (zoom away from the object and increase the resolution on that digital camera) You get clearer lines and curves with less jagged look but they get further away.

On LCD definitely use just the native resolution (15" would/should be 1024x768) using any other defeats the object of "gaining" resolution...There are only a set number of dots on the screen after all.

That is what I was thinking, thanks Kipper. I think I remember changing that once with some unwanted results.

The Desk Top is also an LCD Flat Panel which is great for the eyes, because it doesn't strobe like a CRT.

Now theres the thing I dont have an LCD because I find them too slow to refresh....If you leave the monitor without any drivers on a CRT you have 60hz refresh (flickery) but above 70 there is no flicker and once you pass 100 no LCD i've seen can keep up...try 240hz on a CRT and see the frames fly. Refresh rates and response times are measured differently between the 2 animals but smearing is getting less and less and the 4ms one in my daughters room is almost good

Refresh rate has a lot to do with the clarity of your display, but you also have to worry about the contrast ratio in the display. If you are running a super high refresh rate, you will aslo need to run a super high contrast ratio (research for this before you purchase the monitor), I would suggest a contrast ratio no lower than 1200:1.
