Smile Suggestion for Sorin

Somewhat new to the "BOBCAT", but I have been working on the attached file and wondered about something in the Gcode. When generating the tool path I set the rapid plane to where I knew the tool would clear at all points.
However, the post will then feed to the next depth of cut, which can be a considerable distance. So my suggested improvement would be on the order of a sub rapid plane. In other words the code would insure the tool would rapid above all clamps or whatever and move to the next position and then rapid to the sub rapid plane and feed into the work. The way this particular code runs is it mills the OD of the part following the xyz contour, and then with a radial tool path mills the surface. This material is Inconel and I have been experimenting with different tool paths with the BobCat, the other method is the spiral tool path but one of the times I ran that, the path did lift the tool up at various points and rapid to a another point on the surface and continue cutting.
As I said, am in the learning process with Bobcad.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Bowser,
I have passed along your message and the file that you have attached to people that make the decissions at Bobcad. As you probably know, I only do the training and don't get too much interaction with them because my time restrains. Hope this helps.

I took a look at your Drawing File, very nice work. What you are discribing I usually do by Manually Drawing Geometry and using the Move Too Point on the CAM side of BobCad. It is time consuming but it works. Is this Inconel X750?

Incnel 625. Will have to see how the tool path works out. The thickness ends up .028 +/- .002
