be weary when buying huge monitors and tvs.

if you are considering buying huge displays of any form, make sure that you dont get screwed, obviously product life is a big deal, (my monitor has been replaced by the manufacturer 3 times) but also make sure and check out the specs on the display, a contrast ratio of 700:1 is reasonable if you are watching regular broadcast television on it (like you pick up with rabbit ears) but if you are going to be working on it, go for something with a contrast ratio of at least 2000:1, the price will go up a lot, but its worth it when clarity comes into the picture.

if you are using it as a cad system, i would look into Planar monitors, and use them as a baseline.

dont research too much, otherwise

What resolution are you using Issiah? I can go to 2048x1600 but cant see anything on the screen (games look nice but cant read anything at that res) mostly I still stick at 1024x768 unless I come across a huge picture to edit and then I flick between res' I do use reading glasses though Oh and a 22" iiyama vm pro512 here

I have no idea what these mean but 1024 x 768 pixels Lap Top [15.1" Liquid Filled] and 1280 x 1024 Desk Top [19" Flat Panel]

Why are these measured this way?

BTW I leave the default settings because I don't want to break anything

The dimensions are measured diagonal. And then there is the visable verses the actual dimension. Anyhow the larger the display the bigger the objects appear at the same resolution.

Cool, but how does one make their resolution BIGGER?

Resolution is limited by a couple of factors. Monitor capabilities and graphic card capabilities.

Mine is a 20.9" viewable area 21" monitor.

To change the resolution:
right click on the desktop
go to properties in the popdown menu
click on the settings tab (far right tab at the top)
move the slider on the left side, left for lower resolution, right for higher resolution.
the higher the resolution, the clearer the display, but all your objects get smaller too.
